The cause of acne has been fraught with many myths. Many are uncertain about the true origins of acne and many misconceptions have resulted. First of all acne arises with sebum is secreted excessively which blocks the oil and follicles of the skin. Bacteria is tripped in these follicles which can lead to acne like pustules and cysts.

Many factors can cause acne to be worse. These include:

- Pore clogging cosmetics like oils and gels etc.
- Bad mental stress such as anxiety and fear (Emotions agitate your hormones and can affect the quality of your skin).
- Menstruation or monthly period cycles for women.
- Touching and massaging pimples that have arisen.
- Rubbing the skin too strongly.
- Poor environmental conditions (living in places with lots of dust, smoke and dirt will irritate your skin. This is an important cause of acne that is external to oneself).

Things that do not cause acne include the following:

- Excessive sexual activity or masturbation.
- Excessive exposure to sunlight.
- Food by itself (although diet does impact acne to a certain extent, a lot depends on what you are allergic to and requires experimentation on your part).

Genetics may or may not be a cause of acne as well. If your parents have a severe case of acne, you might be predisposed to have acne although this is not a certainty. What one should focus on is the treating of acne that has occurred.

For example, products with benzoyl peroxide or the use of oral/topical antibiotics can help you calm angry pimples and reduce acne in most circumstances.

Acne – a skin condition nobody really wants but almost everyone gets at one point in their lives. How to say sayonara forever? Unfortunately, this is the challenge.

At present, there remains no surefire way to get rid of acne. While there are many remedies in the market that claim to zap your zit problems away in a heartbeat, their effects differ from person to person. If you have mild acne, over the counter remedies could work well with you. But if you have a severe face issue, you might want to consult a dermatologist directly. Either way, you will have to spend on medication.

If your acne is not as bad and you feel that you can muster home remedy trial and error, here are some of the acne remedies most people swear by: (But, hey, always keep in mind that different strokes respond to different folks, so these are definitely NOT carved in stone.)

1) Squeeze the juice out of a lemon and mix it with the same amount of rose water. Dab the mixture onto your face and let it sit there for at least 30 minutes, after which youll need to wash your face with fresh water. Do this for 15 consecutive days and youll see that your pimples and acne have noticeably reduced and the scars have started to fade.

2) Use Nettle Tea. Nettle tea contains some curing element that works its magic on basic skin problems. Four cups a day should do the trick.

3) For those annoying acne lesions, try applying aloe vera extract to you face twice a day.

4) Toothpaste can also be a great instant acne remedy. Dab a little on your zit before going to bed and your pimple should be noticeably smaller when you wake up. Just make sure you use the paste, and not the gel, formula.

5) One of the more popular acne home remedies is fresh mint juice. Apply it all over your face and let it stay there overnight.

6) Heres a smelly acne home remedy: crushed garlic cloves. Dab them on your face once or twice a day.

7) Honey with cinnamon power. Mix up a paste using one teaspon of cinnamon power and 3 tablespoons of honey. Put it on your face before you go to bed and rinse it off as soon as you wake up using warm water. Two weeks of doing this will help make your pimples go away for a considerable period (or, if youre lucky, forever!).

8) Wash your face clean with water and then dab your pimples with cotton balls that have been previously soaked in vinegar.

9) To thoroughly cleanse your face and pores, use either an almond or oatmeal mask. Mis either with rose water, enough to turn it into a paste and spread on your skin, paying special attention to your problem areas. Let them stay and dry for around 15 minutes and then rinse them off with cold water. This will help you get rid of those annoying blackheads and whiteheads.

10) Mash tomatoes to a pulp and apply them on your pimples and acne. Leave them on for about one hour and then wash them off.

There are many more acne home remedies around, and if youre creative and resourceful, you might even be able to conjure one up yourself. When working with home acne remedies, though, always keep in mind that its still always best to consult a professional about your skin problems. Because when all else fails, youll definitely be forced to see a dermatologist (and you might end up paying more).

But, hey, if it works for you, then, by all means, keep doing it.

In our busy lives today it’s no wonder that acne problems are so rampant. We stress about home and work, while eating quick meals that are full of saturated fats and oils, so we can do more and be more productive. But how good is this for our skin? The answer is not much good at all.

The saying, you are what you eat is true. Take a look at a person who eats an all natural diet as opposed to someone who has dinner at the local fast food joint. The first person is likely to have zero acne, acne scars, or body acne. You probably wouldn’t be able to say that about the fast food gourmet.

Acne on the body or face can be a truly disabling problem for some and this article is going to show you a little about how to get rid of acne with home remedies and thoughtfulness when opening up the fridge or the drive through for lunch.

There are many homemade acne treatments. You ask any relative and they will give you some sort of answer from a yogurt acne treatment to drinking green tea and using witch hazel to treat skin disorders. The problem comes when trying to use one type of treatment for many different types of people. Not all people have the same type of skin. Some people have mild acne and others have bad acne. Some have dry skin and others have oily skin.

This is an important point and before deciding on any sort of acne treatment you should do two things first. One, think about your diet and the stresses in your life; is there an area where you could do better? How about eating better foods and avoiding unnecessary situations that you know are going to stress you out? Two, really think about your skin. Is it oily or dry? Do you have various skin types in different areas, and possibly varying types of acne on your face or body? These first initial thoughts will help when trying to think of the best course of action for you.

Green tea has been noted as aiding in acne. Eating less processed foods is thought to enhance acne problems by creating more insulin which makes a perfect environment on your skin for pimples, zits, whiteheads, and other skin disorders to thrive.

Eating more fruits and vegetables for the antioxidant properties has been noted to help keep the skin clear. Don’t forget about the fish oil. Omega three’s have been linked to anti-aging which isn’t actually treating acne, but after having clear skin from taking some of the tips above, you will want to help keep your skin supple and youthful.
