It’s inevitable that you’ll hear about, and even consider, steroids at some point in your career. If you are an athlete or bodybuilder, you will know guys that take them, and you’ll be tempted to do so yourself. After all, it’s really hard work to pump iron and do a lot of cardio. Why wouldn’t you want to look ripped just by taking a pill? Well, you’ll find out why you shouldn’t take steroids. Just keep reading.

Many high-profile athletes have used steroids to improve their musculature and their physical performance, particularly bodybuilders. Were you aware that there are many serious complications of steroid use, including death? Even so, the allure of being the best sometimes blinds even the most promising athlete.

Anabolic steroids are synthetic copies of testosterone, a prominent male sex hormone. The keyword there is “synthetic.” In other words, it’s artificial. It isn’t real. They were primarily for use in treating patients of AIDS and anemia, who were suffering from extreme muscle loss. The treatment is referred to as “hormone replacement therapy”, or HRT, and this helps individuals get more of the hormone that their bodies aren’t able to make enough of naturally. Doctors never prescribe anabolic drugs to anyone who doesn’t need them to build muscle.

Bodybuilders have garnered a bad reputation for being steroid abusers. Steroids can be transmitted as pills or intramuscular injections, for the most part. For bodybuilders who abuse steroids, they can get more muscle faster than normal. As it increases muscle mass, it also serves as a diuretic, flushing out excess water and giving the bodybuilder a more defined, ripped look.

There are some severe consequences of steroid use, aside from the obvious legal consequences if you are caught possessing or using them. Some major side effects of steroids include cancer, an increase in bad cholesterol, liver tumor, jaundice, high blood pressure, stroke, acne, baldness, enlargement of the breast, shrunken testicles, low sperm count, infertility, heart attack, headache, nose bleed, altered thyroid function, and an increased likelihood of contracting HIV or hepatitis from sharing infected needles.

That’s not all, though. There are psychological effects like sudden fits of rage, mood swings, depression, hyperactivity, and brain damage. There are further physical side effects like weight gain/loss, insulin insensitivity, increased body hair, water retention or dehydration, nausea, anaphylactic shock, chills, bone pain, hives, depressed immune system, sore tongue, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, thinning of hair, constipation, abdominal pain, edema, and more.

One other issue to note is that what you get might not be pure. If you get impure steroids, there is no telling what else is in there that can cause problems. No one out there regulates “street steroids”, and there are people who die from steroids, whether contaminated and not. These are some of the many reasons why you shouldn’t take steroids. At the most basic level, you are severely messing with your hormonal balance and undermining your entire bodily functions, so the number of symptoms you could suffer from is just as varied as all the bodily functions affected by your hormones.

Steroids have also an effect on diseases that are wasting the immune system or muscles. As much as AAS have uses that have the potential to bring about lethal side effects, these steroids are usually outweighed by literally the many benefits which patients are able to receive if they are given under the guidance of a doctor’s care. A lot of High School students are now after AAS, where it is reported that these steroids are in consistent usage. Many anabolic steroid abusers have said that they are willing to begin the consultation of doctors to start learning their steroid state in principle. In practical terms however, many of these steroid abusers do not reveal their steroid habit to any of their personal physicians or doctors. The reason is that these individuals have never been able to trust their doctors. Steroids occasions cases of Gynecomastia and are a huge bone of concerns. Some steroids only become so if used by individuals with sensitive bodies or those people taking the element equipoise in large doses. If the effects of estrogen become troubling, an inclusion of the drug Nolvadex and an addition of the steroid Proviron could make ones cycle even more tolerable. In addition, Dianabol converts well into the hormone estrogen, while in some bodybuilders it causes serious cases of bitch tits or Gynecomastia. Steroids also worsen any condition which one has, where the use of such drugs as Proviron and Nolvadex really become necessary. For those who are not mass bodybuilders, Equipoise can be used to provide slower but quite steady gains in quality or strength of muscle mass. Positive effects with this drug can be depicted once they have been in use for some cycles that are longer in length, lasting around 8-10 weeks. The gained muscles are well defined and very solid. Although these steroids are illegal to use and sell, and talking to a physician can be really daunting, one should always remember that it is the initial step towards absolute recovery. So many individuals are very hesitant when it comes to consulting physicians while dealing with issues related to anabolic steroids and androgen steroids and their abuse. One of the largest errors that anybody under steroids can ever make is to make a decision to leave steroids immediately, by discontinuing a specific cycle almost all of a sudden. Steroids of any kind are very powerful hormones in that just discontinuing their usage could cause so many problems that are equivalent or tantamount to not leaving them. This is to help them attain huge muscles and a better body mass. Steroids take the rank of the natural hormone in males known as testosterone. Steroids act more like testosterone and as a result acne which is really bad around the back and shoulders appear, baldness on a person who was not entitled to, slowing down the growth of athletes who are not through with growing, liver damage, cancer of the liver and jaundice, acute migraines, aching of joints plus muscle cramps, sleeping problems and vomiting, nausea and acute diarrhea.

Most people don’t know what Candida yeast is or what it does. But, Candida yeast is a fungus that can cause some serious infections in both healthy and unhealthy people alike. The main strain of Candida yeast that causes the most problems due to infections is Candida albicans, which usually cause infections such as thrush in infants and children. When studied in a laboratory setting, Candida yeast usually forms as in round, white colonies of Candida on agar plates that are used to cultivate fungi.

Candida yeast is a fungus and comes from the fungus family of Saccharomycetaceae. While this word is long and hard to say, it is a pretty nasty group that likes to cause infections throughout the bodies of humans and other mammals. The majority of infections that Candida yeast causes are infections in the mouth, such as thrush, and can be caused by acrylic dentures in people who wear them on a regular basis. The form of infection that is caused by dentures and other appliances that are made of acrylic for the mouth is called oral candidiasis. While this fungus does live in all humans, those with weakened immune systems are more subseptable to infections due to Candida. So, what do you look for to know if you have an infection due to some form of Candida? Here are some symptoms to discuss with your doctor:

Anxiety
Mood swings
Constant fatigue
Skin infections or acne
Problems with focusing on tasks
Irritability
Intense cravings for sweets or breads
Outbursts of anger
Headaches
Itchy skin
Obsessive compulsive disorder
Stomach or digestive problems

If you look at this list and see that you have one or two of these, don’t worry too much, as this doesn’t mean that you have a bad infection. But, if you have more than four of these symptoms, you need to discuss them with your doctor as they can be signs that you have an infection caused by a form of Candida or a food allergy. If you have a weakened immune system or have had a long period of stress in your life, you might be subseptable to a form of Candida infection and should discuss this with your doctor as well.

One easy way to treat a Candida infection is to immediately cut out all high-carb and sugary foods that you normally eat. These include: breads, fruits, candy, and other foods that contain a lot of carbs or sugars. These foods all produce sugars, which are a growth springboard for Candida. If you cut out these foods, and suddenly get an overwhelming craving for chocolates, fruits, or breads, then you need to see a doctor and keep on this diet, as this is a major sign that you have an overgrowth of Candida in your body.

If you find that you have a Candida infection, then you need to stay on a strict no-carb/no-candy diet until you have completed your treatment and your doctor feels that you can start on these foods once more. No matter what type of treatment your doctor prescribes for you, you should complete the whole treatment. Just remember that Candida lives in all humans, so you cannot get completely away from it, but you can be careful not to allow it to run your life.

Did you know people shoplift boxes of condoms more frequently than any other item found a pharmacy’s shelves? Think about it for a second. The reason becomes fairly obvious: people are too embarrassed to be seen with condoms in their possession, let along buying them. And perhaps you’re one of them—the “embarrassed,” not the “shoplifter,” that is… Afraid a friend might enter the pharmacy at the point of purchase. A family member. A neighbor. Your boss! Even confronting the cashier who rings up your, um, purchase, or the person standing behind you in line is a potential source of discomfort. Suddenly anyone you encounter equates what you’re holding with your blushing face, immediately realizing what you’ll be (or at least hope you’ll be) doing that evening. Of course, you could be among the brave who march straight to the counter, box in hand held like it were a trophy, greeting everyone as you go. If you are, you’re luckier than many who become overwhelmed to the point of simply replacing the box and leaving, or, because they cannot do without, shoving the condoms into their pocket and, well, hoping they remembered to lace their sneakers tight that morning.
Of course harrowing experiences for the easily embarrassed do not limit themselves to the pharmacy. In fact, have you ever considered what books people shoplift most frequently from your local bookstore (to likewise avoid embarrassment)? If you guessed self-help books, you’re right. (Interestingly, as a genre, they still manage to outsell any other category on the shelves despite the hordes of shoppers with particularly sticky fingers and deep coat pockets). And not just self-help books related to sexual techniques, marital problems, infidelity or other relationship issues, but also those related to our physical well being, i.e. how to(s) on Health & Fitness.
For example, you may have an issue with acne, bad breath or your weight; browsing the self-help section for a cure of fitness regime only indicates to others that you’re self-conscious about what may be equally obvious to them. Or, you may have an issue with something previously unrecognized by the public including premature ejaculation, intense social anxiety, or warts that suddenly, even without witnessing your issue firsthand, become apparent to others as you flip through titles on the latest remedies. Thus self-help books, while partly the bookstores “bread and butter” are also their “condoms,” so to speak. Shoppers, likewise, are not only too embarrassed to be caught browsing the self-help shelves, but are doubly embarrassed to then parade throughout the store carrying whichever book applies to their specific issue or perceived inadequacy, only to hand it over to a cashier, immediately letting him or her in on the shopper’s previously kept secret. Harrowing indeed.
But, instead of either not buying a book because you are too embarrassed (thus allowing whatever issue ails you to fester and grow), or worse yet shoplifting what is supposed to be self-help, not self-hurt, and potentially subjecting yourself to criminal charges or jail time, you can now find similar information, and often the exact same books, online in an eBook format. Any reader, formerly too embarrassed or otherwise noncommittal about owning up to and confronting their respective issues, perceived inadequacies or habitual vices, can now pursue the diets, cures and other life-enriching methods from the comfort and privacy of their own homes. No more scouring the bookstore shelves or entering the diet center beneath the scrutiny of the public eye. Thanks to Health & Fitness eBooks, anyone can conduct the requisite in-depth and educated research needed to tackle their problems and improve their life, head on, without further worries about answering the prying questions of peers or enduring the judgment of family members.
Download a Health or Fitness related eBook when you want, on your terms; leave a printed version lying about, or keep the digital file tucked safely away on your computer. The choice is yours. Let everyone know (friends, family, neighbors, even your boss!), or limit those who know to those you trust or even to no one at all. Either way, you can begin improving your life immediately at a level of comfort you deserve.
Begin by conducting your research thoroughly, and with the knowledge that eBooks related to Health & Fitness just like their counterparts on the bookstore’s shelves, tackle virtually every issue under the sun, under your roof, or simply within yourself, from how to conquer panic attacks to asthma, jet lag to unsightly moles; turn fat into the muscle mass, a belly into bulging biceps or voluptuous breasts; or even learn to maximize your mind’s potential.
Finally, eBooks, now that most experts write them in addition to their tangible world publications, offer methods to improve your life that simultaneously accommodate any and all lifestyle choices and belief systems. Examples included hypnosis practiced while sipping a cup of coffee before work, natural alternatives that appease both body and spirit, with or without supplements, some secular, others associated with religious practices, and so on. Whatever your lifestyle or beliefs, you’re likely to find a cure for your ails or a program for your future, without necessarily breaking the bank, and perhaps most important, without the embarrassment of confronting your issues with the whole world watching… Now, if only the same could be done for that box of condoms…

There are lots of ways to make money online free of charge but you definitely have to be a bit creative in your marketing efforts. One of the easiest ways to do this is through affiliate marketing or by promoting other people’s products.

Affiliate marketing programs are readily available online for ebooks, software, services, and almost any physical product that you can imagine. If money is really tight for you at the moment, finding a good affiliate program is an easy way to get started with no out of pocket expenses.

One of the biggest affiliate programs online actually sells digital ebooks as their primary product. With close to 10,000 products at clickbank.com, you can normally find something of interest to promote. If you like dogs, promote a dog book. If you like cooking, promote a cooking book.

But, you don’t want to focus entirely on things that you like. You also want to identify problems that people are dying to solve. This can be a physical problem like skin acne, kidney stones, or weight loss, or it can be a non-physical problem like a barking dog or bad credit.

Either of these problems may be solved by specific information that you can provide via your referral link. Once you have products or problems that you are interested in promoting, you can start to be creative and come up with ways to get your referral link seen online.

You can promote your link in busy discussion forums or you can visit social networks like MySpace.com, linkedin, and others. You can also write articles, which is also free of charge, and post those articles to drive traffic to your referral link. Some article sites require you to have a domain name, so you can invest a nominal fee to get one, or just target article sites that don’t have that requirement.

Another way to generate exposure for your link is to visit other blogs online. Some blogs can get thousands, or tens of thousands, of people per day. You can leave a thoughtful comment about the topic at hand on these blogs and get free exposure for your link. The best idea would be to visit blogs that have topics similar to the products you are promoting.

Rosehip seed oil has become widely recognized as an effective skin and beauty care agent in the last decade, with great interest surrounding its scientifically-validated beauty-enhancing effects. The oil has been heralded as a miracle cure for skin, useful for a great myriad of conditions, from premature aging and sun damage to scarring and other damage. What is this wonderful red liquid, where does it come from, how does it work, and most importantly, can it work for you?

Rosehip seed oil is extracted from the seed within the fruit of the wild thorny rose bush. Native to Chile, the plant is now cultivated elsewhere in South America with many countries producing the oil. Also found under the name ‘Rosa Mosqueta’, the oil has been used by native people for hundreds of years, but only recently became known to the rest of the world.

The red colored oil can be either solvent extracted or ‘cold-pressed’ – pressing is the really way to go, as there is no chance of any solvent residues remaining in the final product, and it is easier on the environment. The cold-pressed oil is the closest to nature; it has a high essential fatty acid content, and is considered more delicate than other seed oils. For this reasons, pure rosehip seed oil should be kept in a cool place, out of direct light, and should be used within 1 year of purchase. Otherwise the more fragile of the fatty acids could begin to turn bad, and your skin might not be so fond of them.

Rosehip seed oil is an excellent source of natural vitamin E and natural vitamin A, or ‘trans-retinoic acid’. Retinoic acid, the acid derivative of vitamin A, is the active ingredient found in Retin-A or Tretinoin. Retin-A (a pharmaceutical preparation) has been heralded as a wrinkle cure because of its ability to increase skin cell proliferation – or speed the time it takes for your skin to regenerate. In fact, rosehip seed oil has been extensively studied for many of the same actions attributed to Retin-A, and has been shown effective without side effects (like over-drying and peeling – though unlike Retin-A, it should not be used to treat acne).

The first major study on rosehip seed oil was performed in 1983 by a team of researchers at the University of Santiago, Chile. The study’s participants included individuals with diverse forms of skin damage: deep wrinkles and other premature aging, UV damage, radiation damage, acne scarring, burn scarring, dermatitis, and other problems of this type. Rosehip seed oil was shown to have significant, noticeable effects in regenerating the skin, reducing wrinkles and scars, and helping the skin to regain its natural color and tone.

Another later study was conducted on women ages 25-35 with extensive premature aging of their skin. Again, rosehip seed oil significantly reduced the appearance of wrinkles and sun spots after daily application for four months. Research has continued on the oil, with one study noting: “On some skin troubles like superficial wrinkles, chestnut spots and ephelides, good results have been obtained. After 16 weeks of treatment, wrinkles and spots become imperceptible.” The oil has been used to successfully treat a long list of skin related conditions, including: age spots, wrinkles and premature aging, sun damage, scars from acne, burns, and surgery, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, hyper-pigmentation, brittle nails, and even dry and damaged hair.

Besides its regenerative properties, rosehip seed oil is also an excellent moisturizer. This is most likely due to its high essential fatty acid content (fatty acids that the body cannot produce itself), which are necessary for healthy skin. The oil penetrates the upper layers of the skin quickly and, being known as a ‘dry’ moisturizer, does not leave the skin feeling greasy or oily.

As for daily use of rosehip seed oil, it is considered extremely gentle and can be applied undiluted to the skin. It may also be blended with other oils like jojoba and sweet almond, and will still have wonderful effects at 10% of the total concentration. Further, rosehip seed oil makes an excellent carrier oil for aromatherapy – blends with essential oils having skin regenerative and soothing properties are highly recommended.

For improvement of scarring, a simple blend of 20 drops of Helichrysum Italicum per 1 ounce of rosehip seed oil, applied daily to the area, can be helpful. Helichrysum is known for its content of regenerative ‘ketones’. For a more luxurious beauty blend, try the following in 4 ounces of rosehip seed:

5 drops Helichrysum
5 drops Lavender
3 drops Sandalwood
3 drops Neroli
3 drops Carrot Seed
3 drops Geranium
2 drops Roman Chamomile
2 drops Jasmine
1 drop Palmarosa
1 drop Ylang Ylang

Even simply the Helichrysum and Lavender will go a long way – Lavender oil is very gentle, and is also known to have regenerative properties.

So, whether using rosehip seed oil for healing your skin, or simply giving it a little nourishment, you will almost certainly be happy with the results. This luscious oil, with its broad range of positive effects, is sure to take a prominent place in your natural beauty botanical collection.

The benefits of fish oil are so numerous that it’s easier to break them down into specific systems of the body. Fish oil benefits are due primarily to the omega 3 fatty acids that they contain. Each benefit identified is dependent upon the omega3 content.

Let’s just assume that you have chosen a good brand and the omega3 content is high. These are the things that you can expect to see, according to scientific research.

The Benefits to the Skin

Omega 3 fatty acids are one of the components of the skin’s sebum, our natural lubricant and moisturizer. Studies have shown that supplementation is beneficial for people with psoriasis, eczema and acne.

One trial showed there was benefit for people worried about wrinkles, sagging and the other signs of aging. After three months of supplementation, there was a 10% improvement in the skin’s firmness.

Those benefits might be considered purely cosmetic. But, who doesn’t want to look as young as they feel? Often the better you look, the better you feel, too.

How it Benefits the Digestive System

Some of the benefits to the digestive system have been known for many years. It helps to keep the body regular, because it has some natural laxative effects, particularly at high doses.

Recent studies have shown that such supplements are also beneficial to people with inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. It may also be beneficial for people with irritable bowel and acid reflux, because of its anti-inflammatory activity.

How it Benefits the Heart

The benefits to the heart are actually several. First, it acts as a natural anti-coagulant, similar to the effect that aspirin has. Second, it helps lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Third, its antioxidant activity reduces the risk that fatty acids will stick to the arterial walls, causing hardening and age-related heart disease.

How it Benefits the Brain

The majority of the brain, the back of the eye and other parts of the central nervous system are made up of omega3 fatty acids, primarily DHA. DHA levels in the bloodstream are known to be lower in people suffering from depression.

Studies indicate that these supplements may be beneficial for people that are depressed, have ADHD, memory problems or trouble concentrating. It is likely to be good for anyone that wants to reduce their risk of age-related eye diseases and dementia.

Why it May Reduce Your Risk of Cancer and Help You Live Longer

Because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant characteristics, it addresses two of the causes of cellular aging and two things that play a role in cancer. Inflammation and free radical damage are two of the causes of cellular aging and they both play a role in the development of cancer.

Antioxidants of all kinds neutralize free radicals. Natural anti-inflammatories fight chronic inflammation.

The potential benefits of fish oil supplements on your good health are numerous, and warrant serious consideration.

But before deciding which supplements to use, be sure to research the various manufacturing processes! Get the wrong ones and you could be smelling a little fishy every time you burp.

DATELINE: COHASSET AND PLYMOUTH, MASS… South Shore Skin Center practitioners share their insight on various foods that may (and those that may not) help you maintain beautiful skin:  Foods that are rich in antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables are highly beneficial to the skin.  Dairy is not beneficial to the skin, but it’s not bad for it either. There has been some controversy about dairy causing acne, but the doctors at South Shore Skin Center maintain that dairy does not cause acne.  Whole grains that are low-fat are good for the skin. Bear in mind that grains such as flaxseed are better absorbed by the body if they are ground into meal before eating them. Adding at least one teaspoon of ground flaxseed to your diet per day is sufficient.  Good hydration is good for the skin. Beware of drinking beverages containing caffeine, which is a diuretic. Drinking a lot of caffeinated beverages is not recommended because caffeine in large amounts will have a dehydrating effect. Drinking water is best for hydration.  Try to eat foods that are rich in Omega 3s, which are essential fatty acids and benefit all organs. A typical diet that includes soybean oil has a much higher ratio of Omega 6, which actually blocks Omega 3 absorption. It’s better to eat foods made with olive or canola oil as these have a low ratio of Omega 6 and will not block the absorption of Omega 3s.  “When it comes to the health and beauty of the skin, the foods that we eat really do play an important part,” noted Dr. Richard Eisen, a board certified dermatologist and founder of South Shore Skin Center.  South Shore Skin Center Founded in 1984, South Shore Skin Center is one of Massachusetts’ most progressive dermatology practices offering a wide range of medical, surgical and cosmetic services.  South Shore Skin Center’s cosmetic services include Fraxel re:pair and re:store; Gentle YAG, innovative Laser, IPL (Intensive Pulse Light), Thermage and treatments for age spots, acne scarring, birth marks, tattoos and more. The practice also offers a full range of affordable anti-aging services including Botox, wrinkle fillers, Microdermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels.  South Shore Skin Center offices are located at 223 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Suite 202 in Cohasset, Mass.
